Ok so it's a while since I blogged.. it's been a hella summer...

Graduation week was awesome.. There are pics on Flickr but someone reported me AGAIN for something stoopid. and i'm behind the kittens so if you aren't a member of Flickr I don't think you can see them. Speaking of Flickr..i think I'm done with them for a while. I mean seriously..you put shite behind the kittens just because some angry biatch is pissed off???

anyway..if you care to peep.. here they are..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dividedsouls/sets/72157619197623108/

The week started with the arrival of our crazy friend Steve and ended the following Tuesday with the purchase of Spud's new Palm Pre -- 1st day of sale.. and he loves it long time. It was great to see all our friends from around the country including my Buffalo Bingo Babes.. was sad that I couldn't play more -- but there is always January!!!

The summer continued with traveling back and forth between Phoenix & Vegas. Allan & I spent the summer looking at Vegas houses for his pending move here. He hasn't sold his house in Phoenix yet but there is a lot of traffic and his R/E agent there is showing it almost daily. On the good news front, he did finally find a house here and pending inspection tomorrow -- the closing will be on 9/28. it's a little farther away from my house than he wanted to be but still within 10 miles which is close enough. He is still threatening to get the house next door and "make it work" ... Bah!!

The Bash was great and we had our 2nd Annual Pacific Northwest Friday night dinner..which was awesome.. however I think next year we are going off site, despite what MJ says. I think we were 15 total..but the loverly Wendy was sneaking refills on my Margaritas so my count might be off a bit.

here are a few pics of the dinner..including one of Jolene snockered..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dividedsouls/sets/72157621634403394/

In early August..my "daughter from another life" Roseann and her family came to visit for a week.. we got rooms at the Luxor and hung out for a week. ended up driving to Santa Monica for the day so her husband, Dan, who is from Sweden, could swim in the Pacific Ocean. It was awesome weather..not really too hot while they were here.. did a bunch of touist stuff that we wouldn't have otherwise done. and I do believe at some point one of the twins yelled "Vegas Baaaby" in the lobby of the Luxor.

I'm in the process of trying to settle up with the IRS.. finally got 2007 & 2008 filed on Wednesday and I need to call them tomorow to make sure we're kosher... speaking of kosher.. Allan and i met with the Rabbi here in Vegas -- not that he's got one religious bone in his body NOR are we planning to have children.. but to make life a little easier for him, I agreed. Apparently since we aren't planning to have children or having any under the age of 13 -- the rebbe doesn't think it would be necessary for me to convert. I also know enough yiddish to pass.. I blame 22 years of living in NY for that. and i told him it's pretty hard to convert TO something when you AREN'T something already.

I had tentatively made plans to go to DragonCon in Atlanta as a vendor..but McCrazy called and was coming to town so i scrapped those plans. Speaking of McCrazy -- Tiffiany has reppeared and says she's staying in Texas.. we'll see... Had a lovely dinner and night out with him.. Red 8 @ Wynn.. sat thought 3 of the water shows in the little outdoor bar-- and later played Blackjack until 3am.. i think i'm still in recovery.

had an unexpected vending show -- got the call the day before.. Convergence 2009--Chubs & Chasers--the gay male equivilant of the BBW Bash. Surprisingly for "not my audience" I did pretty well over 3 days. of course where this a chubby gay man can a chubby mother/sister co-worker be far behind?? I am also working the Gay Rodeo - male & female this coming weekend. Horseman park for those of you in Vegas.. should be well interesting.
I have a few smaller shows coming up.. then the Fetish & Fantasy ball at the Hard Rock on the 31st. However McCrazy made mention of a few of us joining him in Key West for their event.. it remains to be seen if he comes up with tickets/hotel for that time.

Thats about all.. Cheers...

Houssie..if you are reading this.. you inspired me to come back..

15% off @ Zoe's Bags

Gawd i love "made up" words..

About a year and a half ago while cruising Etsy --the premiere website for all things hand made, I came across some small bags that I thought would ROCK as plus-sized party pouches!! I dropped a note to the designer with some changes that could be made to customize them in order to be a better fit for our ample curves and thus was born a relationship between OMGoddess & Zoe's Bags.

Karen, the owner/designer, was working on a new idea that had evolved out of every woman's innate need to match her bag to her outfit. Ok I'm the exception to this. But how many times have you got out and couldn't find a purse to match your mood/outfit etc.
Or worse.. you have a bag that you love. It has just the right # of pockets that can keep your cell phone, your wallet, bottle of water, your 4 colors of bingo daubers etc in but it just clashes with orange/black outfit you are wearing??

Enter the Morphin. It's a basic bag..
<img src="http://photos.zoedesignsltd.com/images/A_9/2/6/1/51629/zeldinapockets_4cbe2.jpg">
and comes in 3 sizes depending on what your needs are.

Then comes the FUN part.. the flaps.
No longer are you forced to stick to switching out your bag before you run out the door.. all you do is change your flap. they clip for ease and wallah .. you are in business...

<img src="http://photos.zoedesignsltd.com/images/A_9/2/6/1/51629/DSC04113_408fc.JPG"><br> There are literally 1000's of options. over 500 in the store.. plus suppose you are roaming the shopping stalls in Mumbai and find some fabulous fabric..one of a kind, hand dyed etc etc. You have a dress made in it.. and an extra 1/2 yard.. you can have a flap made to fit your Morphin.

Love baseball?? have a <a href="http://www.zoesbagboutiqueshop.com/catalog.php?item=524"> baseball flap</a> (she's got the fabric already)
are you a Bingo Babe?? What better way to celebrate your win with a <a href="http://www.zoesbagboutiqueshop.com/catalog.php?item=300"> bingo flap</a> (yes there is fabric for that too).
<a href="http://www.zoesbagboutiqueshop.com/catalog.php?item=593">Cataholic?</a>
Night on the town?? Don't switch purses.. switch<a href="http://www.zoesbagboutiqueshop.com/catalog.php?item=563"> flaps.. </a>
If you travel..you know what a pain it is to carry extra purses just to match your outfits.. No need with the morphin. All you do is pack the flaps .. they lay flat or you can roll them up..leaving room for the important things..like clothing.. or the etcs..that we won't mention here.

Guys..don't be left out.. after all ..messenger bags were created back in the 1970's when the bike messengers in NYC were swerving in and out of traffic.. they had these bags that could hold all their 'stuff' and leave their hands free. and there are GuyFabrics that make you feel like the macho man we know you are.
<a href="http://photos.zoedesignsltd.com/images/A_9/2/6/1/51629/zDSC05173_758f8.jpg">Murse 1</a><br>
<a href="http://photos.zoedesignsltd.com/images/A_9/2/6/1/51629/zdDSC04884_ec968.jpg">Murse 2</a>

My BBW sisters...the straps can be adjusted to accommodate our ample ASSets..whether it is boobs or backsides.. just let her know..

For the next week if you put " Holly" (the word, not MOI cuz you know my arse would never fit through that little boxi) as the discount code on the check out... you'll get an additional 15% off..

BTW..it's not too early to start thinking about XXXmas -- If you had a morphin, you could just direct your little elves to the pick-a-flap page and no longer would you have to put that stinky perfume on or goo-goo gah-gah over some new dust catching chachkes.

http://www.zoesbagboutiqueshop.com/catalog.php

Warning: Cross posted to Facebook/Live Journal

It was during the escalation of the Vietnam war. Every night grandfatherly Walter Cronkite would come on the news and tell us. "44 casualties & 350 injured today" .. every single day until end of the war in 1975. In between he told us of the last great achievement we as a nation made, the original moonwalk by Neil Armstrong. Of a breakin at Watergate. Of a 1972 bombing at the Olympics in Munich. And day after day while 52 Americans were held hostage in Iran.

I can't help but thing that if he'd been reporting after we invaded Iraq the true number of soldiers killed and wounded.. we'd of been out of there by the time that one guy uttered "Mission Accomplished"

With the new media, gone are the days that we look to a central figure to report the news. We know almost instantly when Obama farts or some self-loathing entertainer finally gets back on top of the charts by dying. But there is a generation of over the hill baby boomers who would still like to be reassured by that clear and steady voice every night ..that's the way it is... July 17, 2009.

I really need to find an application that posts on FB/multiply/yahoo & LJ. Of course I could "copy and paste" it to all 3 but some folks I know are on all 4 so how boring would that be.

House: coming along.. we've had AC issues over the last few months but hopefully they are repaired.

The boys are leaving for China tomorrow.. for 10 days / 2 weeks. It will be good to have the whole house -- it will be bad because I have to do doggie duty. Speaking of doggy duty.. i'm waaay over pissed because for 3 weeks i've been telling them to empty the back yard poop can (it's wrapped) but one of them does nothing to contribute to the ongoing up keep of the house and the other one is a Jose.. procrastination thy name is Joe. and today the excuse was his back hurt.. i said fuck it and did it myself.. it was stinky.. waaay stinky.

Work: Challenging as ever .. I hate to have work/life mix but it did a few months ago.. and the results is not as positive as I'd like. In fact it's downright crappy but more on that later. Our over all sales are up 85.1% over this same time last year. So yeah..

Love life: We are still plugging along.. Darth Allan and I. He's in Cali all week but is coming to Vegas to party with the Phat Chix this weekend. I told him i'd let him actually meet a few more of my friends if he was buying dinner. LMAO. I did finally, after a year, go out with my Staten Island Stalker.. turns out he is really a nice guy. (this is the guy i stood up 3 times and he still didn't give up) If i was living in NY, if I wasn't emotionally and physically vested already and If I thought i could be a "good" girl friend, he'd totally be in the running to be my BFF.

Misc: Sad to see so many celebrities dying off.. I thought it was the rapture but then Jacko went and I knew I was wrong on that. ok I loved his music up until the 90's. After that NOT so much.

This is BBW week in Vegas.. (more on that later)...

Where I've been: LBS @ Red Rock.. good. Monte Carlo buffet..2nd visit.. terrible. Zack's Cafe on Spring Mt. & Durango.. Excellent!! Olives in Bellagio.. ok.. not really Italian..more like Italy meets greece with a little french thown in. The wine was excellent and the ambiance was fab. Going to Dick's Last Call tomorrow.. should be fun.

That's about it.. catch me on FB.. daily.. here not so much.

Ok Smooth Criminal was ok.. but he was already moving to that really freaky stage of wannabe.

So I hope he is now able to accept himself as he is and will come back in his next life and actually have a childhood.

New Summer Project

Every year Spud & I take on a summer "fun" project that involves getting out of the house. Since this year we'll be in a new house YEAH (as of tomorrow) with a fire pit, and a garden and a kitchen that we can acutally use without hearing snarky commentary OR having to feed masses of people (not that i mind doing that at all IF the snarky commentary wasn't present) .. I figured we'd do an "at home" project.. apart from the garden, kitchen etc.

So here is what we've jointly come up with.

Personal project: me

Re-read all of the books by Lawrence Sanders. He was my favorite author while in college and beyond but in the past 4.5 years I've fallen off the reading wagon. Mainly because I have NO where that I can actually sit and read. I have a chair that is at my desk.. if I'm not in that chair, Spud is in it. If I move to the bed (the other seating spot) I can read but end up taking a nap a few pages in.

Now he has 2 specific series of books that I really loved. The "Sins" group.. and "The McNally" group of books. Other than 1st Deadly Sin..which starred an aging Frank Sinatra, I don't think any of his other books were made into movies. I think some studio or tv-movie studio should really take a look at these books because they would translate really well to film. I think either Noah Wiley or George Clooney would make a great McNally with Edward Hermman as his dad and oh maybe Betty White or Doris Roberts as his mother.
Sadly, Mr. Sanders died in 1998 so there won't be any more of the books, but there is a treasure trove out there that is being wasted.

Spud's Summer Project:
His is 2 fold.
1 he is going to make 1 new meal per week from start to finish. cocktails to dessert.
His 2nd project is to take 40 days and change his bad habits. This includes drinking soda, procrastinating on his chores and personal hygene, as well as starting a daily workout routine. Apparently he saw or read an article that says that it takes 40 days to change your lifestyle.

Joint Project:
We are going to explore 1 new place every week that is outside of our current 2 neighborhoods, providing that I get a car. This will be Henderson, Boulder City, NLV, Summerlin etc. Outside of the Lakes and Spring Valley.

So now that those are set, we are off to finishing the last 2 months of school.

But sadly, and I'm not saying this without full knowledge that part of it is though her own actions, she wasn't surrounded by friends and family. So I planned a little surprise and had her meet me at Arizona Charlies for "bingo." I had heard from our own McCrazy who wanted to kick in his own contribution without being there.

We met a bit late at Charlie's so we couldn't do 11am bingo.. instead she donned her tiara, boa and flowers (see pic) and we took a few pics.. however a few minutes later 2 security guards came to tell us to stop. that was a first. Considering that any Smart Phone can take a pic I find it funny that security was 'concerned" however once we explained it was her birthday.. she batted her eyes at them.. they laughed and told us not to do it again.

We played some blackjack.. i actually won 25.00 AMAZING.. and then we went up for Bingo. The chick in front of us was pretty funny and besides us, the youngest person there.. and YES Tiffy was still wearing the tiara & the boa when we went in, so we decided to sit at her table and bother HER.

A few bloody mary's later.. and we were rolling.. tiffy hit a bingo for 100.00.. we were all giddy.. then nothing. we all came close but no cigaro (as chucky would say) ..the we got to the coverall.. we all beeped 1 number (yes we only played electric--more bloody mary's that way)... and we saw the number as it came up.. O73.. Tiffy's number.. she won 500.00 dollars!!! a great haul for the birthday girl.

We hung out for a little bit and then she took off with her bad ass motor cycle buddy.. I, on the other hand, stayed and played a few.. Still even .. yeah..that's a win in Vegas. Spud called and I had him call to Gorditas.. so i could pick up on the way home.. went out and no taxis.. but 3 funny valets called one for me.. while i was waiting.. tiffy came back.. on the back of the bike. Turns out she was headed over to her daughter's house so that she could spend the rest of the evening with her. YEAH.. we shared a cab to my house.. had a kick ass driver..

it was a great day..

Of course I'm kinda feeling the Bloody Mary's today..

I have 2 friends in different departments left working at AIG. I rarely speak to either of them but we are connected on Linkedin (that's the professional Facebook for serious adults). I asked Mitch, who has been with AIG since the mid 1980's..how he was coping with the bad press since he is a fund manager for one of their many mutual funds. He told me not to believe everything I read. That his entire department, 127 people from AIG SunAmerica, a branch of AIG, the various fund managers on down, all refused their bonus checks. Even though his particular fund grew in 2008 by .05% (that's 1/2 of 1%) but still growth.. he and his fellow workers didn't feel it was right or in the best interest of the company to accept checks that added up to more than the fund's 1/2% profit.

My other friend, Hazel, who has been with them since the mid 1990's and works as an underwriter told me that even though her bonus would have been about 1/10th of what it was in the past, she and several other co-workers also returned their checks to the company.

So why isn't this on the news??? I think it goes to the part where we only want to hear the BAD news and never focus on the good.

Take Las Vegas for example.. Ok so Wells Fargo and State Farm cancelled. CES, NAB, MAGIC, WOC did not. And they are just a few of the shows in 1Q2009. But do we point those out?? NOPE we concentrate on the cancelled events.

So before anyone gets all pissy, I think, as the late Paul Harvey used to say.. we should all learn "the rest of the story"..Good Day.

Today we went to Town Square -- a pseudo knockoff shopping mall that's supposed to be laid out like it was in NY or Boston. Outside shops, walking.. etc.. the size of their escalators indicates they are not used to having fat folks there and NONE of the shops really had any thing remotely close to plus size but that isn't why we went.

We went to see the latest Medea movie, which was a good laugh. I'll probably buy it to add to our growing Medea collection. There was some irony that wasn't lost on me that it was Medea goes to Jail, (she did) and there I was sitting almost 5 years later, able to sit though it without being paranoid that the Po-po was behind every corner.

We had decided ahead of time to go to the Brazillian Steak House that is open for lunch. Of course it was on the exact opposite side from the movie theater. On our way there we got a call from Billy and he invited himself. We schleped over there only to find it closes at 2pm until 5pm. Like WTF??? in a tourist area --a mile south of the Mandalay.

Spud suggested Claim Jumper and off we went back to almost where we started. Billy was already there with a beer and shot of Jaeger. and HE was driving.
Somehow during lunch the conversation steered to the "losing the virginity" thing. NOW I Know exactly when both Dave and his friends lost theirs. and I will probably know when Spud loses his.. YES girls he is still a V-boy.

Rather than it be with some neighborhood skank (as the above mentioned Dave and his friends) as a parent it would be my preference that his (spuds) experience be at least pleasant if not fulfilling.
I was 14, he was 28. I was scared shitless NOT from the act but the location and the person. He was the youth director at my father's church, I was the babysitter for his kids and he'd always paid mucho attention to me, very protective. He was shipping out to Viet Nam on Monday..it was Saturday @ the church. etc etc. Up to the last time I visited the church in Huntsville Alabama, I still "imagined" I could see the stains on the carpet. And remember the struggle getting off the girdle that my mom insisted that i wear.

Most every one I talked to over the last 30 years -- has told me the same thing, that their 1st time was not what they expected. We got onto this convo today because graduation is coming up, and it was suggested that for a graduation present, he be given a trip to Pahrump.. NOT my choice, believe me. Of couse he's had 2 offers by older women in our lives and declined them both (i just found this out TODAY, btw..I will be having a little side convo on this..although if i had to pick someone other than the LOVE of his life, it would be one of these 2)

We've always been pretty open about sex in our conversations which is why I'm confident that he would prefer it to be someone who picked him and vice versa. But in thinking of all the conversations I've had with my friends, my kids and their friends, I'd say I only know of 1 or 2 people who actually saw fireworks and have a pleasant memory.

So at 1244am..this is what is on my mind.

Dah picked me up today at 930amish (with the OBM) so we could go over to the "Taxi Graveyard" to see what kind of a car I could get for my $$. I had 1K in my pocket.

well they were in such horrible shape.. like missing wheels..not just tires etc. So then he got the bright idea that we'd go look at a dealership. Ok fine.. I'm not so happy with that but the time was like 1030a and spud had to be at school at 12n. We head over to World Kia -- he'd seen a Chrysler 300 there for 9,988. I was skeptical but tried to keep an open mind. We get there and he sees and HHR that would be "perfect" for you.. *more on that later*.. HHR is a Chevy product. We'd seen it in the latest RJ book for 9,988. I checked the sticker. same number.. the salesman came out.. Rob was his name. Oily was his game. We asked him how much the car was.. he said.. without hesitation.. 11,998.00Would we like to run the numbers. I said is that sticker # 698787? He said yes..i said well you have it listed for 9,988.00. he said that sale ended 3/1. Slick. Dah wanted us to still do the math.. so we go in.. NOT my choice.. I told him i have 1K to put down. not a penny more. He said..no problem.. meanwhile Dah left me and the OBM there to go get spud... Rob comes back after 10 minutes wants to know if i have a copy of my pay stub. I said Of course.. and i showed him my last one dated 2/20. It showed I'd made what I'd told him. I work dayam hard. He goes back..then comes back 5 minutes later to tell me he can get me a loan but I have to put up 3K because there are no taxes taken out of my check. I said..No thanks, can I have my paperwork back please?? took and walked out the door to wait for spud/dah. he comes out about 5 minutes later and said he spoke with his boss and his boss told him that he could do it through another company for 2500 down..i coudl give him the 1k, drive it off and bring him the 1500 in 2 weeks. I laughed. Meanwhile Spud and Dah arrive. Spud is all excited .. he loves the HHR. I said..no go. we are headed up Sahara toward Jones when my phone rings..he's lucky i took the call.. it's Rob.. he said.. to come back and he'd see if he couldn't get it down to 1500 and let me drive it home. Tomorrow Dah is picking us up at 10am..we're headed to the Chevy dealership. With the news today regarding cars.. perhaps they'll be happier to take my 1K...

did i mention that spud is too tall for the HHR?? we pushed the seat all the way back and his knees were still propped on the dash.
