I can so relate to Margaret Cho's section. My mom, who was 50% Lakota Souix, therefore prone to the rounder body type longed for "cheerleader" daughters.  For years my sister and I were subjected to this ongoing tirade of "but you are still too fat".. I swear if i ever write a book that's what the title will be.

My sister has truck driver hands and a square body.  I'm all HIPS and Thighs.  but at the time all we were was "fat" I look at pictures of me when I was 14/15 years old.. I was SLAMMING.  not flat chested no but teenager but decent tits, small waist and good ass.  I can remember that I was a size 12 until I was like 22 yrs old.

When I turned 34, I was 411lbs. There was nothing I couldn't do because I never saw myself as a fat person.  But once I determined to have another baby, therefore I needed to lose weight, every pound showed.  And when I got down to 135 and size 8.. i never felt I was thin enough because when my MOM saw me for the 1st time in like 3 years her words were.. yeah you look good but you still have those hips.

So over the years as my weight has creeped back up, through groups like AbundanceNW and the BBWNetwork, I have become much more accepting of my thighs that I ever was. OH yes there are times that I hate them but not because they are big but because they are so frigging  oddly shapped.. really.. i have a pocket on one side and smooth as silk on the other.  Go figure.

So for all the parents out there, watch what you say to your kids.  It will live with them long after you are pushing up daisies.
